Pastel Gallery Two -- Landscapes

I love landscapes. I love putting myself in that place again if for just a moment. As I paint, I'm find myself reliving the sights and sounds and hopefully sharing that with you the viewer. To the right are some landscapes I recently painted.

"Bell Rock, Sedona" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) This Sedona landmark is breathtaking, its red rocks defying the artist or photographer to adequately capture its vibrant colors. Larger view

"Sedona Back Road" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) Only a short distance out of town I encountered this dirt road which led deep into the back country of Sedona. I tried to follow it but the road was too rough and I had to reluctantly give up. This is the view just as I turned back. I wonder what I missed. Larger view

"Red Rocks Resident" (11"x17" pastel on Wallis paper) Its not just the wealthy that make their home among the red rocks of Sedona. Larger view

"Sedona Red Rocks" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) Sedona, Arizona boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.Larger view

"Canyon Shadows" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) The sun is beginning to set and casting deep shadows in this view of the Grand Canyon. Larger view

"Parkway" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) This path leads through a small park near my brother's home in Baltimore. Although we were near a large city, for a moment we could have been deep in some unknown forest. The path beckons us to come explore. Larger view

"Flagstaff Gold" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) SOLD In the fall the aspen trees around the mountains of Flagstaff, Arizona turn a brilliant gold, their small leaves shimmering in the breeze, looking for all the world like leaves of gold. Larger view

"Barn, Arlington, VT" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) I was struck by this classic scene while exploring the picturesque countryside of Vermont. Larger view

"Shimmering Gold" (9"x12" pastel on Wallis paper) SOLD These fall leaves in reds and golds seem to be on fire. Larger view
